The Captain Marvel HFF Omnibus Shipped With a Cover Misprint — Here's What IST Is Doing
The standard Carmen Carnero cover arrived with both cover images blended together. IST is shipping it as-is, Marvel hasn't said a word, and the whole printing sold out before most of us could blink.

Update:
It appears InStockTrades is now allowing orders for the misprint:

We may be able to assume from this that some of the sell-outs we were seeing were just cautious retailers pulling available stock while they decided what to do. We may see other specialty shops offer their stock again in a similar fashion. Keep an eye out if you are looking!
The new Captain Marvel: Highest, Furthest, Fastest Omnibus — the Kelly Thompson and Alyssa Wong Carol Danvers collection — shipped with a cover misprint. If you ordered the standard cover, you've probably already gotten an email about it.
Here's what happened, what InStockTrades is asking buyers to do, and where Marvel stands (so far, nothing).
First up: what's actually wrong with the cover
The book ships in the usual two flavors — the Carmen Carnero standard cover and the Stephen Segovia DM-only variant. The misprint is on the Carnero standard cover (item code DEC254540), and it's a strange one.
Instead of printing Carnero's art clean, the two covers got blended together — Segovia's Captain Marvel figure ended up superimposed over Carnero's background. So you're essentially looking at both covers fighting for the same space on one dust jacket. From what folks are reporting, this isn't a handful of stray copies either — it looks like the entire standard-cover run of this printing came out this way.
The DM Segovia cover? Totally fine. This is a standard-cover problem.
What IST is doing about it
InStockTrades emailed everyone with the Carnero cover on order. Before shipping, they want you to confirm you understand the book has a manufacturing defect and that IST won't accept returns or exchanges on it. You have to reply "yes, send it anyway" before it moves.
On dust jackets: IST can't guarantee Marvel will produce replacements. If corrected jackets ever become available, IST will send one free to anyone who bought this edition — but that's an "if," not a "when."
This isn't only an IST thing. This isn't only an IST thing. Other retailers are handling it differently: some DCBS and World of Books (reported by u/Username934728) orders have been pulled or cancelled outright rather than shipped as-is.
And where's Marvel in all this?
As of now there's no official word from Marvel — no statement, no confirmation that corrected dust jackets are coming. IST's "we can't guarantee" language says it all: the retailers don't know either.
The precedent collectors point to is Daredevil by Bendis & Maleev Vol. 1, where a printing shipped with cover issues and Marvel eventually made corrected dust jackets available to retailers. But that's precedent, not a promise — until Marvel says something, this is wait-and-see.
Some people actually like it?
Oddly, the misprint is getting a warm reception. Plenty of collectors are calling it cool, some think it's lowkey better than the intended cover, and more than one person is now hoping to land a misprinted copy over a clean one. The colors pop, and there's a real "happy accident" energy to it.
Not everyone's sold — if you ordered the Carnero cover for Carnero's art, having Segovia's Captain Marvel ghosted on top is a fair thing to be annoyed about. But there's a genuine "do I actually want to keep this... maybe?" mood going around.
Good luck actually finding one
Whatever you think of the misprint, the decision may already be out of your hands — it sold out fast. Both covers are gone at IST and CGN, Panel Bound was down to just the DM, and Amazon's at full price. I'm not sure if the misprint fueled demand, or if all the retailers are pulling their copies down to save themselves from the customer service headache (probably the latter).
If you've got the Carnero cover on order and gotten the IST email, that reply confirming you still want it is the only thing between you and the book. Given how fast everything evaporated, "send it anyway" is the move for a lot of people.
