"All Sharon did was throw you out of a plane." "Because she knew you were there.. she had to." This was a great issue-- you can feel everything building to a crescendo -- next issue feels like a big payoff. I suddenly feel joyful that Brubaker got to tell this story and lay it out this far.

First, I enjoyed that Brubaker subverted my expectations and made that Steve Rogers... Not Rogers. Much better then undoing the story this far. The team-up with Bucky and Falcon was great and I enjoyed Bucky's inner monologue. I wonder what he meant be an influence? Also-- Armin Zola transmitting himself was funny. I could see myself reading this one again and trying to catch more details. It was another Brubaker channelling the history of the character.

Enjoyed Bucky's interactions with the heroes-- here's hoping next issue focuses a bit more on the Sharon story. Overall good story-- Brubaker continues to push his narrative forward, though it feels like a lot of setup this issue.

I'm torn here-- the cliffhanger was not unexpected as several years have passed since the release of the book, but I still was hoping reversing the big decision of this Omnibus's kick-off was a ways off. Overall nice fight at the beginning, but it felt jumpy and hard to follow. Best part was the Black Widow / Bucky interactions.

Standard moving the plot forward incremental issue! Pros: I like the action scenes of Bucky-- rocking Cons: Was black widow doing her poser/landing pose while hacking a computer? Question: Why did Alek have a cut on his forehead? I tried to go back to the issue where Bucky ran into him and I don't see a head hit. Maybe this is a transformation hint?

Our first new Captain America fight! I like the costume, but aspects of the fight dialogue felt unfinished or just didn't make sense to me: Bucky thinks about wanting to make Steve product of him, then shoots a bunch of AIM soldiers in the knees "Actually... I did that on Purpose" -- yeah, you absolutely did but what was the Segway to cause that statement? Anyhow, strong cliffhanger and I appreciate the subprime mortgage memory! Been a while!

Okay, the Bucky's flying arm scene was absolutely ridiculous. At first it felt so out of place-- Adams Family meets Deadpool ridiculous. It took me a bit but now I look at it as one of the most memorable, fun parts of this issue. I want a team-up: Bucky's Flying arm and Forge's leg-- they can solve crimes together. I'd pull that!

Love that Bucky, "double-kick, look-ma, no hands!" Move.

This issue pays homage to the Jim Steranko Captain America issue #111. While Bucky is dealing with the Faust mind manipulation, there is a scene that directly celebrates one of Steranko's most iconic pages from his short Captain America run, where Rick Jones as Bucky battles with being Bucky. Considering Burbaker's appreciation of Steranko, I love that he and Epting/Perkins included it. It was well done/not forced. This whole run pays tribute to the past, but this was special.

Shocks left and right! I was NOT expecting the twist with Sharon and I almost teared up at Steve's letter! I'm also enjoying Tony starting to put the pieces together. He seems overwhelmed by the whole Shield director post. Story continues to push forward.

I enjoyed this issue but one thing I noticed is we have so many competing storylines that I feel like they are all moving very small incremental steps towards something. I'm sure Brubaker has a plan it just seems at some higher count of "main" characters it's hard to keep them all moving at a good pace. Despite this I still enjoyed it!

Another great issue! Loved the the discussion between Mercy and his buddy. I could have easily seen that in real life if this was our reality. Return of the Serpent Squad, how many people can king Cobra crush with his thighs? I count 2!

Art and Story continue to crush it. Almost thought we weren't getting a fight scene until the very end! Whew!

Good as ever. Just finished in the first omnibus in Brubaker's Captain set. I reread it here and honestly it's a tight, well written story. This time around I caught the second set of gunshots better and small other things. Really a great issue I could read over and over.

Fun what-if style issue. I appreciate marvel including this cross-over issue in the mapping for completeness, and including it at the end so it doesn't mess with the flow. It's still Brubaker's writing, so you get nostalgic care as we envision a world where Captain never got frozen, and what may have happened. Overall enjoyable and doesn't really feel confusing for someone not reading House of M.

Another fantastic story, pushing the narrative further! The status quo changed and we have a a resolution to the Fautus / Carter plotline. There was an early-on image of a pistol against a white and red backdrop. I had trouble telling what it was-- it seemed to be a bad narrative storyboarding decision-- just letting you know that'll be explained at some point in the issue. Strong issue 25. Good milestone issue to have a critical story like this. Brubaker hit the notes well.

Best issue in the book. All the references to Invaders, Toro, Falsworth, Jacqueline and Namor. Even the reference to the original Captain America golden age Captain America punching Hitler cover. It was perfect and a love letter to the history of Bucky. Not one but two scenes near the end gave me the ole' lump in the throat: the Young Avengers paying their thanks to Bucky who probably doesn't feel he deserves it, and Namor meeting him and giving him a story he needs.. Fantastic.

Third issue in the Civil War 3 part arc. I felt the other two were strong and we were building towards something with the Red Skull. This however didn't have a strong conclusion-- each of the three red skull teasers seemed independent, and the three stories were effectively individual stories. It would have made more sense to just have these as tie-ins without a story title indicating they were part x of 3. I'll be interested to see how the threads continue in the rest of the series.

So the second issue is a Winter Solider focused narrative, which makes me wonder who will be the lead protagonist for the third in the arc! This is a fun issue: we finally get Winter Solider leading the protagonist voice, so we really get to learn his voice and what he's thinking, and a friendship of sorts between him and Fury, as back in issue 21 he reached out to him. One more end cap with Red Skull shows he's got multiple plans going, seemingly unrelated!

Well done re-cap of the Civil War situation and the issue before left things in a "good enough" conclusion that this completely made sense and didn't make me feel like I was missing things not reading civil war. This issue focused on Carter and we can begin at the end to see the plot with Red Skull building up for this new 3 part arc.

Great capstone to the arc. New status quo. Time to take a civil war side journey in the next issue.

Amazing, everything we built up over 19 issues is coming together. I Read this one to a pumped up music track and it worked well!

Better than last issue, pacing seemed better. Enjoyed the involvement of Winter Solider-- I suspect he was responsible for the situation the Cap team encountered at the end. Additionally the continued development of Alek is fun to watch.

Bit hard to follow. Hard to remind myself the plotline of Crossbones and Sin + it's been quite some time since I've read Invaders so I had to use context clues to remember our UK heroes. I'm finding myself enjoying Steve Epting's pencils here! They were good on earlier issues but it feels like the details are off and characters are changing looks too much between panels.

Fantastic tie in to issue 17. We learn the story of Gretchen Zeller and makes us more invested in the mine line story of Brubaker's Captain America run. Big call-out to Javier Rodriguez. Seriously amazing colors that capture the night, dawn, caves, lighting, etc. it was a fun break from the dark, bleak noir of the rest of the series' coloring.

Fantastic issue, great payoff moving the mystery forward and filling in all the gaps. I really like since my last reaction that Crossbones and Sin feel more then Bonnie and Clyde, their is more to their plans-- good for all the build up. I wasn't expecting the Fury angle that Rogers is suggesting, but it makes sense.

Town with a secret vibe. I enjoy Brubaker's ability to show a mystery and make the read feel like the same clues are being exposed to them at the same time as Captain and Carter. Conversely, I'm not sure I'm feeling the Bonnie and Clyde storyline happening in conjunction. I'm not sure how they connect and it feels like a lot of build up for a antagonist that may not be a big deal. Still, interesting story that we've had multiple issues building to!

I appreciate Ed Brubaker spending time getting us up to speed with characters that probably represent years of comic history. This issue is a one shot history/journey of a character. Super dark, and no Captain America. It can feel a bit like a distraction for a solo title but continues to push the greater rogues gallery of Rogers. We also get Mike perkins taking over penciled, where he used to be inker. I'm liking his work, and perfect it over the heavy noir inks he does.

The cosmic cube is cursed! Another great issue. I like where Ed Brubaker is taking things and the story he's trying to tell.

Close to perfect. It's interesting to see Alek have a point where he backs down from his desire for power. I don't think I buy it based on how he treated Leon before. However it's a fun subversion. Love Iron Man cameo, love Falcon team up. Love the cliffhanger, and well written. Overall, it was a great issue.

This issue is the reconcilation of the knowledge learned from issue 11. Both the Rogers and Alek story progress. I really liked it. It showed some flashbacks that help show Rogers decision and how hard it is for him, and we see Alek falling apart more and more due to the Cube.

Great exposition explaining the primary focus on this arc, but I can see some tired eyes effectively reading log notes for a whole issue. It doesn't have quite the Super Hero action story format, but it's still a well written Brubaker issue. Overall important to understand, and gives us sympathy for the character where we might not otherwise.

Well paced. Great Cap + Agent 13 interactions. I feel like I could be reading source material gone over for the movies. Great twist at the end, builds suspense for the next issue. Oddly we skip to 11 as the next map, looking forward to the why.

Great start to the next Arc. We get the meeting between Cap and Winter that I wanted at the end of issue 6. Good progression and hey, first appearance of the "MODOC Squad"! I wonder how people enjoy the darker shadowing of the artwork? This has been consistent in the Steve Epting art / ink work. I feel like a lot of the art is harder to appreciate, but I can appreciate it in the context of the dark gritty nature of this read.

Loved: Ed Brubaker crushes the writing. Explains Monroe better than I ever understood, and the contained story was twisty and engaging. Nits: John Paul Leon and Tom Palmer's art didn't do it for me. I don't feel like the panels matched up well, the character's emotions were hard to read and it just didn't flow well with Brubaker's writing. We can argue that this is supposed to be the disjointed mind of Jack Monroe, but I believe that could have been represented far better. Art drags the story.

This is supposed to be the payoff issue, part 6 of 6 for the "Out of time" storyline. I think I was expecting more. A more kinetic Winter Solider meeting, instead it felt more like a hint. I did enjoy the reshowing of how Bucky died, true to the basic narrative we have for that of a plane crash. Though this version did a good job of showing his hand stuck-- I feel like the original version was an overzealous Bucky not jumping when he could have because he really wanted to stop the plane.

Long lost issue of Invaders! I enjoy this, but I'm sure some people are questioning why Namor and Captain America are hanging out. Unfortunately Namor doesn't have his elvish looks from the golden age, but it's good to see his Cameo. We also get the original human torch! Anyhow, if you read these, this will feel good and I hope they offer enough context for those new to the "Invaders" team. We learn who Karpov is, first referenced last issue... Not his assassin however!

Good nostalgia trip! Having read Invaders and What If? There was plenty of Roy Thomas references. I enjoy the work that Ed Brubaker put into understanding the history of Captain America, then making it accessible to new readers. I'm not sure who "Comrade Karpov" was early in the Alek & Leon. Maybe I missed something? Otherwise great art, especially this cover which was used for the DM release of this Omnibus.

Wait, Nick Fury explained what the WMD were for? I didn't know the good guys had that knowledge? I don't think I missed the inference either, unless the Cosmic Cube has been energized this way before. This reminds me of FMA philosophers stone. I wonder if there was inspiration there. In any event, plot moving along, and I like that we have some mystery that is unknown: Who beat Union Jack's team to the punch.

What an interesting scenario-- we already know the villains plans and the scenario they were building to, but we get to see Captain America and Sharron Carter put the pieces together and solve what we already know. Normally I'm unable to solve mysteries ahead of time but I enjoyed the way the characters questioned things and felt a lot of satisfaction in them reaching the conclusions. Ended with a cliffhanger. I'm excited to see how they solve the big problem!

Great first issue. It was easy to get into despite not having read the prior Captain America series. Steve Epting's art was amazing and Ed Brubaker's writing was engaging. I was caught by the twist! Really interested to see where this is building.

I enjoyed this! Great set-up. Love the Captain America call-back. The B&W artwork from Gray Morrow was excellent.

Mike Mignola is absolutely the perfect artist for a gritty Victorian setting. I loved the satisfying period piece, and found humor with the trial. I was about 3/4ths of the way thru before I guessed the culprit, but that isn't saying much, I'm usually bad at guessing these things. Overall loved it. I'd read it again. Especially for Mignola's work.
